I have also entered two UFC 140 fantasy MMA tournaments over at Kountermove -- a new fantasy MMA site where you can win cash prizes:
Fantasy MMA. Kountermove has built the world's leading fantasy MMA website – a service that is fun, friendly, fair, and legal. Kountermove is the first MMA fantasy site where users compete for real cash prize pools by drafting teams of fighters in salary cap games. With over 32 million people now actively playing fantasy sports in the U.S. and Canada, MMA is overdue to have its own robust online fantasy community.
Kountermove is great entertainment. Beyond that, it also provides a compelling platform for interaction between fighters and fans. Fantasy MMA is especially powerful for new and up-and-coming fighters because it drives broader name recognition and a deeper-level of engagement with fans. MMA fans discover new fighters by playing fantasy games and then become invested – literally – in each fighter on their team. Here are a few entertaining videos describing how the game works and how points are tallied:
Randy “The Natural” Couture. Kountermove is honored to have the backing of Randy “The Natural” Couture and Xtreme Couture Management as part owners and strategic partners. Hall of Famer Randy Couture is a five-time UFC champion – the only UFC fighter to ever win both the UFC Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight titles.
Our Team. Today, Kountermove has a team of 10 people working world-wide. Aaron Ard, aka the "Bobby Fischer of MMA", leads day-to-day product development, operations, and marketing. Brian Knapp, an experienced Silicon Valley executive, is a close adviser to the company. Both are Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioners of over a decade. Kountermove was founded in April, 2009.

The Game. Kountermove fantasy MMA works similar to today’s football, baseball, and basketball fantasy sports leagues. We currently feature single event, salary cap style games and have a number of new game formats coming soon. Kountermove offers members the opportunity to play against each other for the chance to win a designated prize pool of real money.
Members select games based on entry fee amounts, number of opponents, and whether they’d like to draft from the main or full card of fighters. Our member’s teams of fighters are then matched up against each other during real MMA events to compete for the cash prize pool.
Winners and losers are determined by points based on each fighter’s statistical output – strikes landed, submission attempts, knockdowns, dominant positions, rounds won, and knockout or submission bonuses. All entry fees are added into a prize pool that is divided among the league’s winners at the end of the game.
Unfortunately, I am not yet in a position to offer advice on how to pick fighters--I need some record of success before I can do so. Having said that, I am looking forward to playing.
Oh yeah, any winnings will go to support the non-profit, New York Mixed Martial Arts Initiative.
